When "The Three Stooges" was first being discussed as a feature film, names like Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro were being thrown around to star. That movie sounded like fun. Unfortunately, the reality is kind of boring. Maybe its because I've never been a fan of the Stooges' brand of humor. Slapstick was never my thing. The Farrelly Brother's don't do much to update things, so you're just left with a modernized homage more than anything. The Stooges are left on the steps of an orphanage in their youth, but their violent behavior means they're still living there as adults. When the orphanage needs to raise money to stay open, the Stooges go out and try to help, eventually getting involved in a plot by a scheming wife to kill her husband. In between, there are a lot of eye gouges and wrench smackings. Really, there's nothing much different here than you found in your average Stooges short, but that's the problem. Other than throwing in some pretty stupid humor based on bringing the Stooges into modern day (Moe on "Jersey Shore"?), the Farrellys don't do much here. The actors (especially Will Sasso as Curly) do an fine job, but it's a let down knowing what could have been. Maybe I would have enjoyed the movie if I had been a fan of the Stooges, but I wasn't, and I didn't.

I have not see the old films with the original Stooges but I liked this film and recommend seeing it in the theaters. I found the humor to be silly but funny and I laughed couple of times during this film, it was not extremely funny but entertaining enough. I liked that the film was sincere and very innocent, I kind of want to see the old films now. I think the actors did a good job and were believable in their roles, I enjoyed watching them. If you want to see a silly, harmless comedy than this is a perfect film for you, don’t expect too much and you will be satisfied.

I thought this film was alright but I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The filmmakers did not do anything original or new with this film and that is kind of disappointing because it simply mimics the old film. Having said that, the film is funny and good-hearted most of the time and I had fun watching it most of the time. The humor is silly and harmless and i was laughing a lot during this film. The film felt very sincere and even though there was nothing original about this movie I had an alright time watching it. Overall, I think the film is not worth the price of the movie ticket but you will have pretty good time watching it at home.
