I think children will like this film because it is silly and it looks really great but adults should not expect much. I took my niece to see it and she had a great time while I just enjoyed the pretty picture. I did not like how the director modernized the story and I found it to be pretty dumbed down and it lost the beauty and the message of this fairy tale. The film does not really have any substance therefore all the characters are just there to spit out silly dialogue and look energetic. However, this film was created for a younger audience and all of the children in the theater seemed to enjoy it so i guess the film succeeds in that way.

I did not go to see this film with high expectations and had a pretty good time watching this film. It was beautiful to look at and if you have children in your life I suggest seeing this film with them. As an adult I judged this film on a different level and found that the performances were kind of dull and the lead actors did not have much chemistry with each other. The film was also a little bit messy but there were a lot of great moments in the film, I just wish there were more great moments for adults. Like I said before, children will most likely love this film and enjoy the characters and the action.

Mirror Mirror is the first of two Snow White films to hit theaters this year. This one is a much lighter take on the story than the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman. You figure lighter would translate into a funny, fun romp, but unfortunately, you'd be wrong. This movie, while nice to look at, is surprisingly boring. It's the story of Snow White, but with some tweaks. After the King disappears into the forest, the Queen is in charge of a kingdom with a failing economy, though this does not stop her from continuing to be her vain self. When a rich prince shows up, she sees a meal ticket, but the prince has already met Snow White. You get the Seven Dwarfs, who in this incarnation are little Robin Hoods. All of these changes don't really add up to much. This film tries really hard to be hip, and that's the problem. Hip only works when it doesn't have to try so hard, and this movie tries way too hard to be hip. Unfortunately, it doesn't try that hard to be funny. There are sporadic jokes, but mostly, it's a bore. The acting is just as down, with only Julia Roberts and a couple of the dwarfs really trying at all. Everyone else seems to be going through the motions. Visually, it's pretty neat, with incredible costumes and sets. This isn't surprising with a visual stylist like Tarsem at the helm. Unfortunately, he just doesn't know what to do with actors or a script, so we're left with what amounts to a gorgeous painting of dogs playing poker.

I took my little niece to see this film and we both had a good time watching this film so I recommend seeing it in the theaters. It is a modern take on an old fairy tale and I liked the way the director re-imagined it. The film is fast-paced, it is beautiful to look at and I really enjoyed the characters and the way the actors brought them to life. I thought that Julia Roberts was amazing and i really loved her as an evil queen. The film was sweet and charming and highly entertaining for my little niece and myself. The film made me laugh and I like the director tried to make this film feel current and it had some important messages. Overall, I liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters.
